Configuring Meta (Facebook) creatives

Create and customize Facebook creatives for ad campaigns.

Updated over a week ago

Meta creatives capture the attention of your target audience, helping you reach new customers on Facebook, Instagram, Audience Network, or Messenger.

Setting up Meta (Facebook) creatives

Via a Blueprint

  1. Go to Blueprints in the top menu.

  2. Choose a Blueprint, Facebook campaign, and ad group.

  3. Select the Creatives dropdown, and click + New Creative at the bottom.

  4. Select a creative type.

  5. Complete the form, and select Save Changes.

Via a campaign

  1. Go to Manage in the top menu.

  2. Click on an account in the list—then a Facebook campaign and ad group.

  3. Click the + button in the upper-right to start a new creative.

  4. Select a creative type.

  5. Complete the form, and select Save.

Available creative types

If you're unsure which creative types to choose, review their descriptions below:

  • Dynamic Creative Ad (Multi Asset Ad): Dynamic creative ads that blend various media types and ad components to optimize engagement with different audiences. Make sure to toggle on "Use Multi Asset Creative" in Ad Group Settings (Basic) if using this creative type.

  • Image Ad: Displays a single image with an optional footer and a call-to-action button.

  • Promoted Post: Created from existing posts, boosted posts help you reach new people and get more messages, video views, leads or calls. Use a data filter so it only boosts the page post(s) you want. If your Facebook page ID is already linked to Fluency, Facebook Page Posts with its corresponding tags will appear under the Account tag pane.

  • Video Ad (specs): Shows a video as the primary medium to convey a message, promote products or services, or engage with the audience.

  • Carousel Ad: Allows up to 10 images or videos within a single ad for a visually engaging experience.

  • Advantage+ Catalog Ad (Product Inventory Ad): Similar to image ads, carousel ads, or collection ads but shows relevant products from your catalog. Set campaign objectives to one of the following: sales, app promotion, leads, engagement, or traffic.

  • Collection Ad: If you already have a product catalog linked to an account, you can use it to create collection ads right from Blueprints. From there, you can use tags from your product set in conjunction with Facebook product catalog tags—using {{tag}}—to build out your creative.

Optional fields

Instant Experience

Instant Experience is a full-screen experience that opens after someone taps an ad on a mobile device.

Create an Instant Experience (Image, Video, Carousel, or Collection)

  1. In a Facebook campaign in a Blueprint, add a new creative (instructions above).

  2. Scroll down to Creative Assets.

  3. If this is your first time creating an Instant Experience, select Open Editor under Instant Experience Template. If you have an existing template you would like to use, click on the field and select the template.

  4. Choose the template you want to create (Customer Acquisition, Storytelling, Sell Products, Custom Instant Experience), and select Create New.

  5. Complete the form, and select Done. Note: The template will automatically populate in the Instant Experience Template field.

  6. Click Save Changes.

Facebook product sets

If you already have a product set configured in your ad group, leave this field blank. In rare circumstances, you'll add a product set here if tags are being used in the creative name and catalog fields to scale the ads and selected catalog through the Blueprint.

Text overlays and image frames

Text overlays allow Facebook to dynamically decide which text overlay and product information is most relevant to show a person.

  • Overlay Template: Select the shape (Rectangle, Pill, Circle or No Background Shape). Note: Options for configuration below will appear once you select a overlay template.

  • Overlay Text Type: Select the type of product info Facebook will show (Price, Strikethrough Price, or Percentage Off). Note: For Strikethrough Price and Percentage Off, all products in the product set must have a sale price.

  • Overlay Position, Theme Color, Text Font, and Opacity: Select options under these fields to customize formatting.

Enter the URL to an image that will be used to frame product images in the ad, such as a border or your logo. Use images that have a transparent background and contain little or no overlaid text.

  • Required file size: Under 1 MB

  • Recommended image size: 1080x1080 pixels

Creative assets settings

  • Call to Action: Select a call-to-action button for your ad.

  • Automatic Image Placements (Image Ads): Turn on for Fluency to determine the best placements based on the image aspect ratio. When this is turned off, Meta determines how the images will display. This may result in image cropping and some placements not being available.

  • Creative assets settings for Advantage+ catalog ads

Static intro cards

Add a static image or video card in the catalog carousel ahead of the product catalog cards.

  1. Add a Card Name.

  2. Add a URL to the media under Image URL, Video URL, or Thumbnail URL. Tags may also be used in these fields to pull from a media source.

  3. Toggle on/off Enable Map Card. To add map cards in Manage, click + to add a map card. Click on the map icon to customize the location.

  4. Add a Headline, Description, and Call to Action.

  5. Add a Website URL.

Promoting Instagram accounts

You can promote an Instagram account by adding the Instagram account ID or account handle, or use a tag with a polling source.

Configuring Advantage+ creative enhancements

Advantage+ creative applies to ads with a single image or video. When used, it automatically creates versions of your ad that your audience is most likely to interact with. By default, creatives have "standard enhancements." Within Fluency, you can enable different creative optimizations:
