Once you've created a catalog, the next step is to set up a product set within a Blueprint ad group to link to the specific products you want to promote. You can use filters to organize products into specific groups based on factors like price, vehicle make, and more. Additionally, setting up retargeting rules will help you reach your prospects and help them reconnect with your site.
Note: Product sets are specific to Meta (Facebook) ads. They are used within Dynamic Ads to group products from a catalog based on criteria like category, price range, or brand. This allows advertisers to target specific audiences with relevant products from their catalog, enhancing personalization and improving ad performance.
Creating a product set
Go to Blueprints in the top menu.
Choose a Blueprint from the list on the left and select a Facebook campaign.
Click + New Ad Group at the bottom of the page—you may need to scroll down.
Expand the Product Set dropdown.
In the Tags pane on the right side of the window, click the Shared tab and then click the + icon next to inventory-catalogs and FB Inventory Catalog.
Under FB Inventory Catalog, click the name tag to copy it.
Paste the name tag in the Catalog field.
Enter a Product Set Name that describes the products within it, such as "New Inventory."
(Optional) Add Retargeting Rules. See below for rule syntax.
(Optional) Add Retargeting Product Set. Enter the name of the product set to retarget users who have interacted with this product set. Note: This will not appear correctly in the Ads Manager UI.
(Optional) Set up filters to refine the products in your set. See below for step-by-step instructions.
Click Save Changes.
Note: To use a product set, you'll need to choose from the following campaign objectives: sales, app promotion, leads, engagement, or traffic. This will allow you to create a catalog ad using the product set.
Using retargeting rules in a product set
Retargeting rules allow you to retarget users who have already engaged with products in a product set. The rule syntax follows Meta's naming. Some common events include Search, ViewContent, AddToCart, and Lead. Use the event action followed by the retention period in days for inclusions. For exclusions, add a negative symbol (-) in front of the event action.standard event
Examples:
ViewContent: 0-180
-Lead: 0-180
The above example will retarget those who have viewed the content within the last 180 days and exclude those who generated a lead within the last 180 days.
Applying filters to product sets
You can add as many filters as needed to customize your product set. Here's how:
In the Product Set dropdown, click + Add Filter Rule.
In the Filter Field, click the field and select an option from the list. You may need to scroll down to see the entire list.
Set the Filter Operator to include or exclude specific Filter Values. Filter values can be text or numerical depending on the filter you selected.
Click Save Changes.
Examples:
Filter for new vehicles: Choose State of Vehicle from the filter field list and enter New for the filter value.
Filter for vehicles priced greater than $10,000: Choose Price from the Filter Field list and enter 10000 for the filter value.
Configuring product sets in accounts in Manage
You can also set up product sets for individual accounts in Manage. Here's how:
Go to Manage in the top menu.
Select an account from the list.
Click Account Settings in the top right, and go to the Product Catalogs tab.
Pick from the following options:
Add a product set: Select "+ Add Product Set" under the appropriate catalog. In the new product set window, enter a Name, Operator, and Filter(s). Select "Ok" when finished.
View an existing product set: Click a catalog's name to expand the dropdown menu. The existing product sets are listed here with inventory count and filters.
Edit an existing product set: To edit a product set filter, hover over the product set under Filters or Operator and select the pencil icon that appears. Click "+ Add a Filter" if you would like to add a new filter to the product set.
Please note the following about the catalog dropdown tabs:
Products. This tab enables you to view the number of products in both the Fluency catalog and the Meta Commerce Manager catalog.
Diagnostics. In this tab, you can review any errors detected in the inventory feed that comprises the catalog. Meta provides a detailed outline of these errors and troubleshooting steps for addressing them within the feed.
