Once you've created a product catalog, you can set up product sets to target specific items within that catalog. Product sets let you group products using filters like price, brand, or condition so your ads show only the most relevant inventory. Additionally, setting up retargeting rules allows you to reconnect with users who’ve previously interacted with your products.
Note: Product sets are specific to Meta (Facebook) ads. They are used within Dynamic Ads to promote products from a catalog based on custom criteria, enabling more personalized and effective campaigns.
Configuring product sets
In Manage
Go to Manage (globe icon) in the left menu.
Select Accounts.
Click an account from the list.
Go to Blueprint Data under Account Actions near the top.
Select Catalogs in the settings drawer menu.
If you haven’t yet, click Connect a New Catalog and then select from the dropdown to connect either a partner or inventory catalog.
Understanding the product set settings
Product set settings are divided into four “tabs”:
Products: Shows the number of products included in the Fluency product catalog and those that have been successfully synced with Meta Commerce Manager.
Diagnostics: Identify any errors detected in the product catalog setup. Meta provides a detailed outline of these errors and troubleshooting steps for addressing them. Set up fall throughs to replace values if default ones are missing. Note: The “Product Catalog Count Issues” notification will also alert you to errors within your product catalog.
Reload Data: Refresh data in Fluency to verify updates and correct issues found in the Diagnostics tab.
Upload Inventory: Resubmit inventory to Meta.
Note: If managing product catalogs via Blueprints, republish the Blueprint before selecting Upload Inventory or Reload Data.

Using retargeting rules in a product set
Retargeting rules allow you to show ads to people who have previously interacted with products in your product set. The rule syntax follows Meta's naming. Use the event action followed by the retention period in days for inclusions. For exclusions, add a negative symbol (-) in front of the action.standard event.
Syntax
Include: EventType: Days (e.g., ViewContent: 0-180)
Exclude: -EventType: Days (e.g., -Lead: 0-180)
Common events
ViewContent
AddToCart
Purchase
Lead
The above examples target those who have viewed a product within the last 180 days and exclude those that became leads within the last 180 days.
Applying filters to product sets
You can add as many filters as needed to customize your product set. Here's how—continuing in a product set dropdown in Blueprints:
Click + Add Filter Rule.
In the Filter Field, click the field and select an option from the dropdown. You may need to scroll down to see the entire list.
Set the Filter Operator to include or exclude specific Filter Values.
Define your Filter Value, which can be text or numerical depending on the filter you selected.
Click Save Changes.
Examples:
Filter for new vehicles: Choose State of Vehicle from the filter field list and enter New for the filter value.
Filter for vehicles priced greater than $10,000: Choose Price from the Filter Field list and enter 10000 for the filter value.
