Adding negative geo-targets to your Blueprints and accounts

Bulk-add negative geo-targets in Fluency to apply across campaigns in Manage and Blueprints.

Updated over a week ago

You can bulk-add negative geo-targets in Fluency to streamline campaign exclusions. Once set, these exclusions apply automatically across all campaigns in both Manage and Blueprints.

Negative geo-target options

  • Other Countries: Excludes 122 countries. Read more about Google’s negative geotargeting limits. Note: Fluency automatically monitors and prioritizes negative country targets most likely to be sources of irrelevant traffic based on the performance of each individual advertiser.

  • Other States: Excludes all states other than the state specified in Basic settings.

  • Outside North America: Excludes all countries other than the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

How to enable negative geo-targets in bulk

At the customer level

  1. Go to Settings & Tools (gear icon) in the left menu.

  2. Select Customer Info.

  3. Under Website Integration (Validation and Tracking), click the + icon and select Global Geo Negatives (Other Countries, Other States, Outside North America).

  4. Enter the negative geo-targets you want to exclude. Unlike Blueprints, don't include a minus sign at the beginning (options above).

  5. Select Save.

  6. Go to Manage (globe icon) in the left menu.

  7. Select Bulk Edit.

  8. To complete a bulk manage action, first apply a filter. Option: Campaign > Status > Is > Enabled.

  9. Under Actions, go to Update Each Matching > Select Campaign By > Resubmitting to Partners.

  10. Select Preview to review your changes.

  11. Select Apply.

To see the applied exclusions in non-Blueprint campaigns:

Go to Manage (globe icon) in the left menu, and select Accounts.

Click on an account.

Select the Campaigns tab and click on a campaign.

Go to Targeting under Campaign Actions near the top.

Under Locations, click Excluded Locations to view a list of excluded countries.

In a Blueprint campaign

  1. Go to Automate (rocket icon) in the left menu.

  2. Select Blueprint Editor.

  3. Click on a Blueprint in the list and then a campaign.

  4. Expand open Geo Targeting.

  5. In the Geo Strategy field, add a minus sign at the beginning to exclude the defined geotarget(s).

Example: If you want to bulk exclude countries in Google’s Other Countries group (which includes 122 countries), enter -Other Countries. When you launch these campaigns, the negative geotargets will be applied automatically.
