Fluency tags contain non-editable, value-added data that is available across the entire platform. Fluency tags are overwritten by account tags for more specific ad content.
Fluency tags can be used in ad content and campaign names. For example:
The [weather] tag lets you tailor ads based on current conditions. Use [weather.today] combined with a valid when statement to filter certain headlines during rainy weather.
Date tags like [date.MONTH NAME] and [date.YEAR] can populate campaign names automatically, so a campaign named "Great Deals in [date.MONTH NAME] [date.YEAR]" becomes "Great Deals in July 2026" at launch.
Where to find Fluency tags
Hover over Automate (rocket icon) in the left menu, and select Blueprint Editor.
Click on a Blueprint in the list.
Locate the tags pane on the right.
Select the Fluency tab to view the available tags.
Note: Some tags may have a caret to their left. Click the caret to drill down deeper into the list of Fluency tags.
Available Fluency tags
Tag | What it does |
[date] | Provides today's date, broken into sub-values: MONTH, DAY OF MONTH, MONTH NAME, YEAR, DAY OF YEAR, and launchDate. All values are calculated in the account's time zone. |
[weather] | Provides current weather conditions for the account's area. Requires the Weather API setting to be enabled; based on the account's postal code. |
[high-population-city-excludes] | Generates a ready-made exclusion list of large nearby cities to prevent local campaigns from targeting major metros. |
[national-targeting-recommended-geo-excludes] | Provides recommended geographic exclusions for national campaigns, generated per account using Google geo codes. |
Notes:
[date] tags can be used in campaign names. For example, use [date.launchDate] to automatically stamp a campaign name with its launch date. If the campaign is republished, the campaign name will be preserved. If the campaign is re-launched, a new campaign will be created and the old one will be paused.
The [weather] tag is only available if the Weather API setting is turned on for the account. Contact your Fluency representative to enable it.
