Blueprint tags

Create, test, and manage Blueprint tags in Fluency.

Updated over a week ago

Blueprint tags are specific to a Blueprint. Here's how to create them:

How to create Blueprint tags

  1. Go to Blueprints in the top menu.

  2. Click on a Blueprint in the left.

  3. In the tags pane on the right, select the Blueprint tab.

  4. Click + Blueprint Tag/Folder.

  5. Select a tag type from the dropdown (Text, CSV, TSV, JSON, Alias, Flags, Folder, GSheet), name the tag, and click the + button. Note: Text is the default and a great place to start.

  6. To edit the tag, hover over the tag and click the pencil icon.

  7. Add content to the tag and click Save.

  8. See the output of a tag with Tag Tester.

Example: Let's say you want a Blueprint to include multiple headline variations. Create a tag, name it (e.g., "Text Tag Test"), and choose "Text" as the tag type. Hover over the tag and click the pencil icon. Add headlines, one per line. You can now use this tag to generate a headline chosen at random in your advertisements.

Creating Blueprint tags via a GSheet

If you want to manage Blueprint tags in a spreadsheet, you can do so without ever having to leave Fluency. When you select GSheet as the tag type, a popup will appear with a pre-populated Google Sheet and detailed instructions. Simply follow the formatting option that fits your needs, and click the popup's X. You can reopen the Google Sheet by selecting the tag's name and then clicking the pencil icon that appears.

Using competitor data as a Blueprint tag

When an account is first ingested into Fluency, a list of probable competitors is automatically generated. This data can be used as a Blueprint tag. How's how to configure "competitor" tags:

  1. Go to Manage in the top menu.

  2. Click on an account in the list.

  3. Go to Account Settings in the top-right—then to the Basic tab and the Competitors tab.

  4. Click on a competitor's name to add them or remove them from a competitor tag. Note: Look to the map for a visual representation of your competitors.

  5. Click Save.

Tips for using Blueprint tags

  • Nested tags. Using nested tags within a Blueprint tag allows for more flexibility and scale.

  • Managing more than 25 tags. If you have over 25 tags, you'll see the toggle Showing Most Relevant Tags. Turning on this toggle displays recently created tags and/or ones that are in use.

  • Shared tags. To make a Blueprint tag available to other Blueprints, click Convert to Shared Tag in edit mode.

  • Name changes to tags. Changing the name of a tag does not automatically update existing instances of that tag. If a campaign already uses the tag, a name change will cause an error.
