Location targeting for campaigns

Choose where your ads appear, helping you reach the right customers.

Updated this week

Location targeting allows you to specify where you want ads to display. This lets you focus your advertising efforts and reach the right customers. You can also exclude specific locations, ensuring ads won't appear in those regions.

How to configure location targeting

  1. Go to Manage in the top menu.

  2. Click on an account from the list.

  3. Go to the Campaigns tab and select a campaign.

  4. Click Campaign Settings on the top right.

  5. Select the Locations tab.

  6. Select Location under Campaign Location Settings to specify zip codes, towns, etc. Enter a location in the field to Target or Exclude. Note: The name of the targeting type needs to match the format that Google uses (e.g., Burlington, Vermont should be added as "Burlington,Vermont,United States" with no spaces between the words).

  7. Select Radius under Campaign Location Settings to create a radius around a specific point on the map. Set the radius in miles or kilometers, and click a location on the map to set the center of the circle.

  8. (Optional) Click + Add in Bulk to add multiple zip codes or towns at once (one location per line).

  9. Click Save.

You can also use location-targeting syntax in a data feed or in the Geo Strategy field in Blueprints to scale your geo-targeting.

Location targeting shortcuts

In addition to manual adjustments, consider two more time-saving tools for location targeting:

  • Targeting suggestions. Get geo targeting suggestions based on your business address (though that can be edited as needed to fine-tune your targeting).

  • Targeting from other campaigns. Quickly duplicate and apply settings from existing campaigns. Simply click on one of the suggestions to add its locations to your list. Note: If you prefer to replicate targeting from an existing campaign, you can use the Settings Replicator.
