How to create DSP video campaigns and configure video settings

Create programmatic video campaigns via Blueprints or manually in Manage. Video advertising is essential for capturing audience attention and driving brand awareness. By leveraging Blueprints, you can build, scale, and launch thousands of tailored programmatic video campaigns simultaneously without the manual heavy lifting.


Creating a DSP video campaign in Blueprints

Step #1: Set up a Blueprint and DSP video campaign

  1. Hover over Automate (rocket icon) in the left menu, and select Blueprint Editor.

  2. Select a Blueprint.

  3. Click + New Campaign toward the bottom of the Blueprint.

  4. Select DSP Video in the dropdown as your campaign type.

  5. Enter a name and status for the campaign.

  6. Configure Basic settings:

    1. Select your Traffic Types, Page Positions and Device Types. When selecting the Device Types, consider the nature of your video.

      • Online video (OLV) and pre-roll: Toggle on desktop, phone, and tablet and toggle off connected TV.

      • Connected TV (CTV): Toggle on Connected TV and toggle off other device types.

    2. Select your video settings for Video Skippability, Delivery Types and Playback Modes.

  7. Configure other settings:

    • Schedule

    • Budget & Bidding

      • Note: Target VCR is not recommended for CTV campaigns.

    • Geo Targeting: Radius targeting for DSP campaigns may significantly limit spend, use with caution.

    • Interactions with Existing Campaigns (Only applies to The Trade Desk DSP).

  8. Click Save Changes.

Step #2: Create an ad group and add creatives

  1. In your programmatic campaign, click + New Ad Group at the bottom of the page—you may need to scroll down to see the button.

  2. Add creatives:

    • Video ad

    • VAST video ad
