Broadcast: Scheduling temporary ad copy and elements

Schedule and manage temporary ad messages.

Updated over a week ago

The Broadcast tool allows you to temporarily change ad copy for Search or Social ads, like promoting special deals for upcoming holidays or a monthlong promotion. It allows you to schedule when a different message begins and ends, eliminating the need to pause or remove these ads manually. Once the broadcast period ends, your ad copy automatically reverts to the original version.

Types of broadcasts

  • Account-level broadcasts: Changes ads for a single account

  • Global broadcasts: Changes ads for more than one account.

Available ad copy elements

Search broadcasts

Search ad copy elements available for broadcasts include Headline 1, Headline 2, Headline 3, Description, Description 2, Path 1, Path 2, and URL.

Meta (Facebook) broadcasts

Meta ad copy elements available for broadcasts include Primary Text, Headline, Description, Call To Action, Website URL, and Display URL.

Notes:

  • Adding an additional match rule will act as an AND statement. Anything that would be considered an OR statement will require the creation of an additional rule set.

  • In a Broadcast message, you can only include one headline and one description rule set for each ad.

    Examples:

    The following combinations will work:

    Headline 1 + Description

    Headline 2 + Description

    Headline 3 + Description 2

    These combinations will not work:

    Headline 1 + Headline 2

    Headline 1 + Description 1 + Description 2

  • Duplicate an existing broadcast message by selecting Clone Message & Rule Set. Cloning provides a template so you don’t have to start a new message from scratch, especially if you plan to keep the same match rules.

Customizing broadcasts using tags

  1. Within a Broadcast message, click + Special Broadcast Tags to show the available tags list.

  2. Click a tag to copy and paste it within your message.

Important: Tag content is dynamic, so some ads may not receive the Broadcast message if the character count exceeds length limits. Be sure to preview your ads to check that the tags are populating the desired broadcast message.
