Broadcast: Scheduling temporary ad copy and elements

Schedule and manage temporary ad messages.

Updated over a month ago

The Broadcast tool simplifies the process of broadcasting a unique message within an account (e.g., like when you want to promote special deals for upcoming holiday weekends or monthlong promotions). It allows you to schedule the specific period when a temporary message will be active, eliminating the need for manual reminders to pause or remove these ads. Once the broadcast period ends, your ad copy will automatically revert to the original version in the account.

Remember: Broadcast doesn't replace ads—it instead edits them for a specific period before the ad reverts back to the previous version.

Types of broadcasts available

  • Account-level broadcasts: Broadcasts within a single account

  • Global broadcasts: Broadcasts across all accounts that meet a specific set of rules

  • Meta (Facebook) broadcasts: Broadcasts for specific Meta-related advertising copy elements

How to create broadcasts

Account-level broadcasts

Account-level broadcasts are delivered within a specific account. To create and schedule broadcasts at the account level:

  1. Go to Manage in the top menu.

  2. Click on an account in the list.

  3. Click on Account Settings in the top-right, and then the Broadcast tab.

  4. Select + New Message and enter your desired broadcast message.

  5. Choose a Location in Ad for where the message should appear.

  6. Select the start and end dates for the message to run, and then click Apply for both dates.

  7. Define Match Rules that indicate which ads within the account will be affected by the broadcast.

  8. Review the broadcast message by clicking Preview and Publish.

  9. When ready, click Ready to Publish? and then Publish.

Notes:

  • Adding an additional match rule will act as an AND statement. Anything that would be considered an OR statement will require the creation of an additional rule set.

  • You can clone a broadcast message and rule sets to make it easier to change or add messaging to other copy elements while keeping the same match criteria or vice versa.

Global broadcasts

Global Broadcasts are delivered across all accounts that meet a specific set of rules.

  1. Go to Manage in the top menu.

  2. Click the Broadcast button (signal icon) in the top right.

  3. Select + New Message and enter your desired broadcast message.

  4. Choose a Location in Ad for where the message should appear.

  5. Select the start and end dates for the message to run, and then click Apply for both dates.

  6. Define Match Rules that indicate which ads across yours accounts will be affected by the broadcast.

  7. Review the broadcast message by clicking Preview and Publish.

  8. When ready, click Ready to Publish? and then Publish.

Meta (Facebook) broadcasts

Broadcasts for specific Meta-related ad copy elements are available via the Body, Title, Subtitle, Call to Action, Destination URL, and Display URL options in the "Location in Ad" dropdown. Note: These selections are not specifically designated as being for Meta broadcasts.

Customizing broadcasts using tags

  1. Within a Broadcast message, click + Special Broadcast Tags to show the available tags list.

  2. Click a tag to copy and paste it within your message.

Important: Tag content is dynamic, meaning some creatives may not receive the Broadcast message if the character count exceeds line length limits. Be sure to preview your ads to check that the tags are populating through to the desired Broadcast message.
