Campaign prefixes standardize and bring consistency to campaign names, helping you identify campaigns created by a specific Blueprint. Once campaigns share the same prefix, you can easily filter for campaigns built from the same Blueprint across multiple accounts.
How campaign prefixes work
When adding a campaign prefix to a Blueprint, plan carefully. We recommend adding a prefix once and leaving it there. Once you add a prefix, existing campaigns created by the Blueprint will be renamed upon republish.
We do not recommend removing or changing a campaign prefix. New campaigns will be created without the prefix and the old campaigns will be paused, and managing them may result in more manual work. Campaigns with the old prefix are no longer connected to the Blueprint, so additional republished changes will not apply.
Adding campaign prefixes
Hover over Automate (rocket icon) in the left menu, and select Blueprint Editor.
Select a Blueprint and click into the Basic menu.
In the Blueprint Campaign Prefix field, add the text that you would like to prepend to all campaigns managed by that Blueprint. Note: If you don’t see the field, select the Display dropdown and toggle on Show Advanced Fields.
Select Save & Republish.
Campaign prefix examples
Vertical (e.g., Lawyer, HVAC, etc.)
Ad type (e.g., Display, Search, PMax, etc.)
Partner (e.g., MSFT, Meta, etc.)
Language (e.g., EN for English, FR for French)
FCY (indicating campaigns launched with Fluency)
You can change a prefix without recreating campaigns (not recommended).
Go to Republishes at the bottom of a Blueprint’s main menu. If you don’t see the menu, select the Display dropdown and toggle on Show Advanced Fields.
Toggle off Auto Apply Changes and Toggle on Block Republishing.
Manually rename the existing campaigns to exactly match the new prefix convention. Tip: Use Advanced Download to update campaign names in bulk.
Update the Blueprint Campaign Prefix.
Republish a single account to confirm the Blueprint recognizes the renamed campaigns and did not create new ones.
In the Republishes menu, toggle off Block Republishing and toggle on Auto Apply Changes.
Republish the remaining accounts once the test is successful.
Additional notes
If new campaigns are created, performance history does not copy over and stays with the original campaigns. New campaigns start with zero history, which can impact quality scores and bid strategy performance.
