Make bulk changes to campaigns via .xlsx files.

Updated yesterday

With Advanced Download, you can use an .xlsx file to make changes in bulk to a campaign. First, you'll export and download the campaign's data as an .xlsx file, then make any desired changes, and finally upload the edited spreadsheet back into Fluency. Any changes made in the .xlsx file are automatically updated in the platform.

How to use Advanced Download

Follow along with the video, and click the arrows below for step-by-step guidance.

Step #1: Download an .xlsx file

  1. Go to Manage (globe icon) in the left menu.

  2. Select Accounts.

  3. Check the box(es) next to the account(s) you want to export. Note: Selecting more than six accounts will result in fewer export options.

  4. Under Available Types, toggle on or off the elements you want to include in the .xlsx file (e.g., accounts, budgets, creatives, etc.), including performance metrics (the last toggle in the list).

  5. Scroll to the bottom of the Advanced Download dropdown and click Export to download an .xlsx file. Note: There is a limit of 200,000 rows in a single download.

Step #2 Edit the .xlsx file

  1. Open the .xlsx file containing your campaign data. At the bottom of the spreadsheet, a separate tab exists for each of the selected elements (e.g., budgets, campaigns, extensions, etc.)

  2. Edit the desired elements. Note: Edit only the content in the columns with purple headers. Any changes to the content in the columns with green and white headers will not be applied.

  3. (Optional) Create new elements (e.g., keywords, creatives, etc.) by adding new rows to the spreadsheet. Here's how:

    1. Start a new row in the spreadsheet.

    2. In the Primary Key field, input new. Note: When you upload the spreadsheet into the platform, a primary key number will automatically be assigned.

    3. Copy and paste the fields in the green header columns into the new row. These must be the same.

    4. Input your desired values in the purple header columns.

  4. Save your updated .xlsx file. Note: Make sure it is still in the same file format as when you downloaded it (.xlsx).

Note: Auto-scaling of approved monthly budgets is deactivated

Previously, if you changed the approved monthly budget in the Accounts tab on the .xlsx file, Fluency would scale that budget across existing active budgets based on their weight. Auto-scaling is now turned off in Advanced Download.

Step #3: Upload the .xlsx file

  1. Return to Manage (globe icon) in the left menu.

  2. Select Accounts.

  3. Click Upload near the top-right.

  4. Click Browse to locate the .xlsx file on your device, and select Open.

  5. Review the detected updates. Select individual changes or click Select All to apply all updates.

  6. Click Apply Updates to sync the new changes.

Filtering your data before download

If you're managing thousands of accounts, updating large datasets can be overwhelming and cumbersome. With Advanced Download in Data Explorer, you can apply filters to narrow the data before downloading, helping you stay within the row limit (200,000).

Here are some filters you can apply before downloading your data:

  • Specific campaign types (e.g., YouTube, Performance Max, etc.)

  • Names or terms within the campaign or account name (e.g., VLA)

  • Exclude or include certain partners (e.g., Meta)

After applying filters, select Download > Convert to Adv. Download. Once you've made changes to your spreadsheet, select Upload in Data Explorer to preview and apply updates.
