Reverse Sync: Pulling in changes made in partner platforms

Use Reverse Sync to pull updates from partners and sync new campaigns.

Updated over a week ago

In general, aim to use Fluency to manage all of your accounts. When you need to make changes within partners, however, you can use Reverse Sync to pull updates into Fluency. Reverse Sync can also bring in new campaigns that were not originally created within Fluency.

Using Reverse Sync

Step #1: Configure your preferences

  1. Go to Manage (globe icon) in the left menu.

  2. Select Accounts.

  3. Click on an account from the list.

  4. Go to Account Settings & Tools near the top.

  5. Select Account Details in the settings menu (under Basic).

  6. Under Automation Settings, find the Reverse Sync dropdown and select your preference:

    • Manually pull from partners. Pulls in new changes when you click Tools > Pull From Partners. Note: If set to manually pull, Fluency will bring in any campaigns with advertising spend/impressions as read-only campaigns.

    • Automatically pull from partners. Reverse Sync occurs every evening (between 1–6 a.m. ET) with connected partners. Changes made during the day will reflect in the next Reverse Sync.

    • Never allow pull from partners. This disables Reverse Sync, and Fluency will only push information to partners.

Step #2: (Optional) Lock fields you don't want overwritten

If a campaign is linked to a Blueprint, you may want to lock the field to prevent unwanted changes by a Reverse Sync.

Step #3: Initiate a Reverse Sync

  1. In Account Settings for the account in Manage, click More Actions near the top-right and select Pull From Partners.

  2. Confirm by clicking Yes, I'm sure.

Fluency will search for changes at the partner for that account and sync those updates. Note that once a reverse sync is in progress, you cannot cancel it.

To review your Reverse Sync history, go to Account Settings > More Actions > Change History > Legacy Logs > Reverse Sync Logs.

Special considerations by partner

Microsoft

While Microsoft Audience (Display) and Performance Max campaigns can be reverse synced in Fluency, you cannot create them or their ads directly within the platform. However, budget management remains available for these campaigns, just like for other channels.

Meta (Facebook)

Ads in Facebook are only synced once. If changes are made in Facebook, they will not update in Fluency. Instead, make the necessary changes in Fluency. When syncing campaigns with mixed budget types in the ad sets, consider the following:

  • If both lifetime and monthly budgets are active and the end date hasn't passed (-90 days), only the monthly budget ad sets will sync. This will create a monthly budget assigned to the campaign.

  • If all monthly budgets are paused and/or the end date has passed, the lifetime budgeted ad set will sync in, and a lifetime budget will be assigned to the campaign.

  • The budget for the campaign will be determined using the most relevant ad sets budgets—generally active ad sets.

  • Unlike Meta, Fluency does not allow duplicate campaign names. During reverse sync, Facebook campaign ID numbers will be appended onto each campaign name to ensure that all campaigns remain unique in our platform.
