Using the segmented budget pacing strategy

Segmented budget pacing divides monthly budgets into timed segments for peak period management.

A segmented budget is a pacing strategy that allows you to divide your full monthly budget into specific time periods. This may be helpful when you get requests to spend exact budget amounts during holiday sales, etc. You can manually create segmented budgets or during the implementation of a Blueprint.

Setting up a segmented budget pacing strategy

  1. Expand open the Pacing section, and select Show All Pacing Strategies.

  2. Select Segmented (Recurring) or Segmented (One-Time).

  3. Open Basic Settings again. You will see two new sections: Allocation Type and Segment Configuration.

  4. Set an Allocation Type:

    • By Amount: Designate specific dollar amounts for each segment.

    • By Percent: Designate a percentage for each segment. Entire the Budget Amount in the field above.

  5. Fill in your Segment Configuration:

    1. Enter the Monthly Start/End Dates for your first segment (e.g., Day 1 to Day 7).

    2. Enter the amount for your first segment (by dollar value or percentage).

    3. Click + Add New Segment for the next date range. Repeat until you have set budget amounts for the entire month.

  6. Ensure your segments equal 100% or your total desired Monthly Budget.

  7. Set your Budget Segment Preferences.

  8. If using them, select a Budget Group.

  9. Set your Underspend and Automation settings.

  10. Click Save and Exit.
