Creating Meta (Facebook) automotive ads

Configure and launch Meta automotive ads.

Meta (Facebook) Automotive Ads:

  • Automotive Inventory Ads (AIAs): Promote your inventory of vehicles to the most relevant audience, across any device.

  • Automotive Model Ads (AMAs): Promote relevant vehicle models and offers to people who may be in-market for a vehicle.

Note: Key differences between AIA and AMA ads (e.g., required fields in feed & catalog).

Step #1: Set up your product catalog

  1. Hover over Automate (rocket icon) in the left menu, and select Catalog Templates.

  2. Click + Add New Template in the bottom-left—you may need to scroll down the page to find this.

  3. Fill in the form fields:

    • Enter a Name for the template.

    • Select a Blueprint Vertical.

    • Select a Partner Catalog Type (Meta Automotive Inventory or Meta Automotive Models).

  4. Meta Automotive Inventory:

    • For each Partner Inventory Field, enter the Source Data. This is the related tag for the data to be pushed to the partner in this catalog, found at the account level (e.g., [Michelle’s Facebook Test.VehicleID]).

    • Select an account in the tag pane to the right to find the tag you need and copy/paste it into the appropriate field under Source Data.

    • Add additional partner inventory fields by clicking + Add Optional Field and input each additional field's information.

Step #2: Configure your product set

  1. In Blueprints, create or select an existing Facebook campaign and ad group.

  2. In the ad group menu click to open the Product Set dropdown.

  3. In the Tags pane on the right, click the Shared tab and then the + icon next to the inventory-catalogs.

  4. Click the + icon next to the inventory catalog you wish to use in your Blueprint.

  5. Click the name tag to copy it.

  6. Paste the name tag in the Catalog field.

Step #3: Configure your Facebook creative

  1. Click + New Creative and select the creative type “Advantage+ Catalog Ad (Product Inventory Ad)” from the dropdown.

  2. Complete the fields for Creative Assets using tags as well as specific Dynamic Placeholder Tags to pull data directly from the catalog feed into the ad creative.

  3. Click Save Changes.

Dynamic placeholder tags

Automotive Inventory Ads (AIAs)

Use the ‘vehicle prefix’ to pull specific data from the catalog.

Common tags

  • {{vehicle.title}}

  • {{vehicle.make}}

  • {{vehicle.model}}

  • {{vehicle.year}}

  • {{vehicle.url}}

Automotive Model Ads (AMAs)

Use the ‘vehicle_offer’ prefix to pull specific data from the catalog.

Common tags

  • {{vehicle_offer.make}}

  • {{vehicle_offer.model}}

  • {{vehicle_offer.title}}

  • {{vehicle_offer.description}}

  • {{vehicle_offer.url}}

  • {{vehicle_offer.offer_type}}

  • {{vehicle_offer.year}} The manufacturing year (e.g., 2024)

  • {{vehicle_offer.price}} The total selling price or MSRP

  • {{vehicle_offer.monthly_payment}} The calculated monthly lease of finance payment.

  • {{vehicle_offer.down_payment}} The required cash down for the offer.

  • {{vehicle_offer.apr}} The interest rate (e.g., 1,9%)

  • {{vehicle_offer.term_length}} The duration of the loan or lease in months.

  • {{vehicle_offer.comscore_market_id}}

  • {{vehicle_offer.price}} The current listing price

  • {{vehicle_offer.transmission}} Automatic vs. Manual.

  • {{vehicle_offer.exterior_color}} The paint color.

  • {{vehicle_offer.offer_disclaimer}}

Note: A placeholder tag only works if the specific field is populated in the data feed. If vehicle.title is empty in the catalog, the ad will not display that information. Placeholder tags are case sensitive. If the catalog field is {{vehicle_offer.make}}, using {{vehicle_Offer.Make}} will cause the ad to fail.
